A sleep consultant works with different clients. The lack of sleep has detrimental effects. For one, it’s proven to reduce milk supply. And so, lactation consultants might refer some of their clients to you. The thing is, the client might not heed your advice and even blame it if something goes wrong.
In another scenario, A client hires you to help address sleep issues they are facing due to money problems that even their financial consultant can’t solve. However, it turns out that the sleeping regimen you suggested only made the anxiety worse. The unsatisfied client might file a suit and blame you for their losses
Seeing as there's a real threat in the somewhat low-risk field of sleep consultancy, you are going to need sleep consultant insurance. This specialty policy is meant to protect you, and your business from the financial repercussions of a lawsuit.
Besides, clients will only hire a sleep consultant covered by insurance. Seeing that the presence of insurance is what stands between you and a contract with clients, it is important to invest in sleep consultant insurance.
Sleep consultant liability insurance pertains to general liability and professional liability policies. Both are your primary protection against third-party claims.
You need general liability insurance just like HR consultants and other business consultants. If you were to be accused of an injury, damaging property, or putting your client in danger, this liability policy steps in to take care of the arising legal fees and compensations that might arise from the dispute.
The general liability insurance for sleep consultants covers your business in the event of a third-party liability claim related to client bodily injury, client property damage, and any advertisement injuries, including copyright infringement or defamation.
You also want to invest in professional indemnity insurance for sleep consultants, management consultants, and engineering consultants. Often, this is overlooked. Yet, it protects you from a dissatisfied client who takes issues with the advice you've provided in your capacity as their sleep consultant.
Note that this policy only comes into effect if you can prove that there was no physical harm. Professional liability insurance for sleep consultants also covers
Work-related errors
Undelivered services
Missed deadlines
Claims of negligence

As a sleep consultant keen on keeping their business afloat, consider getting a business owner's policy. Abbreviated as BOP, this policy actually bundles together two separate insurance policies- general liability insurance and commercial property insurance.
Suppose, for instance, that your office gets broken into and the thieves get away with white noise machines that you use in sleep training. Your BOP comes in and pays for the replacement of the devices.
A business owner’s policy for sleep consultants will also provide coverage if someone slips and falls on the premises of your office.
Note, however, that not all sleep consultancy businesses can qualify for a BOP. In fact, for you to be eligible for this policy, you'll need to:
Have fewer than 100 employees
Make less than $1 million in annual revenue
Have a small office or workplace
Consider a situation where you have a few other sleep consultants on board working with you. While one of your consultants is out on consultation, they could trip on a power cord from one of the white noise machines. You are effectively faced with employee lost wages as well as the cost of their medical bills.
That's why it is best that you get workers' compensation insurance for sleep consultants, education consultants, and marketing consultants. The policy pays for the employee's medical bills as well as the lost wages.
So how does employment practices liability insurance work? If you face any of the claims above, the policy will kick in to cover settlements and defense costs.
Employment practices liability insurance for sleep consultants provides $1 million-$10 million coverage for each claim. You can get this as a stand-alone policy or as an inclusion to workers’ compensation insurance.
Further, there's a chance that the employee might bring a lawsuit against your business for failing to provide safe working conditions. In this case, employer’s liability insurance covers settlements and legal defense expenses.
The policy limit of employer’s liability insurance for sleep consultants and immigration consultants is $100,000-$500,000. Some insurance companies allow you to modify the policy in order to get more coverage. Similar to employment practices liability insurance, you can get this as a stand-alone policy or as an inclusion to workers' compensation insurance.
Now, suppose your IT ecosystem is hacked, and threat actors get access to pertinent employee data. In such a scenario, you are going to need first-party cyber liability insurance. This policy pays for:
Business income loss
Cyber extortion
Costs for containing the breach
Further, examine this situation. You connect your sleep monitor or white noise machine to your client's home Wi-Fi or network. What if, through this connection, a threat actor gets access to your client's network and embarks on an attack? If the client can prove this connection, you are liable for both legal fees and other arising charges from the cyber events.
If you have third-party cyber liability insurance for sleep consultants in place, you are legally protected if the client suffers a breach and files a claim against you. The policy fully pays all attorney fees, court costs, settlements, and judgments, ensuring you don't have to pay for any expenses out of pocket.
Consider purchasing employee dishonesty insurance. If you have this, you are protected in the event that you have a dishonest employee on board. The policy will cover all arising costs if they were to steal or embezzle money from your consultancy or commit fraud against your business.
Don’t think twice about getting fidelity bonds for your business. With fidelity bonds in place, your sleep consultancy firm is protected in the event that one of your employees commits a crime against your clients. That's to mean that if they were to steal from your clients or commit fraud or forgery against them, the policy covers all arising costs.
Commercial auto insurance is useful if you use your personal auto for business purposes most of the time. By getting commercial auto insurance, you enjoy these coverages:
Auto Liability Coverage
You can cause an accident while driving to meet clients. Of course, you have to indemnify the injuries and losses of the victims. The job of auto liability coverage is to ensure that you don’t incur losses when doing this.
All insurance companies design the auto liability coverage of commercial auto insurance to take care of the following costs:
The medical treatment of the injured third parties
Refunds for losses if the accident damaged the property of third parties
Settlements so that you don’t face a lawsuit
Attorney fees, court fees, investigation fees, and other legal defense expenses if third parties sue you for the accident
Physical Damage Coverage
Physical damage coverage allows you to cover vehicle parts repair or replacement expenses. You get this as:
Collision coverage-Only covers damage sustained by your vehicle due to a collision with an object or vehicle
Comprehensive coverage-Provides coverage if fire, weather, vandalism, and theft damage your auto
On average, sleep consultants spend $21.71 per month or $260.52 per year for a $1 million general liability policy. This cost is subject to a number of factors, including the following:
Location of your sleep consultancy firm
Deductibles
General aggregate limit
Per-occurrence limit
Claims history
Annual revenue
Annual payroll
You might have this general liability for sleep consultant discounted if you purchase it as part of a BOP instead of as a standalone policy.

It protects your consultancy firm from costly liability lawsuits that would have grave financial implications on your business. Besides, it proves to your clients that you have their best interests at heart.
Use anyone except Employers. Period. They are non-transparent and shameful. After I complained long enough to warrant a call from a supervisor, the supervisor called back from a PRIVATE NUMBER (no caller ID), left a message that they are not reversing their decision (without any communication with me), and failed to leave a phone number for me to call back. She was hiding! They also fact find via email and phone calls, which is terrific for speed and communication. However, after setting a precedence of email or phone calls, they send time sensitive information via email, without any heads up... they are hoping you miss it and forfeit via expiration. Evil policies. Go elsewhere.
This place is an absolute joke of a company and should be ashamed of the way they conduct business. I was hurt on the job at the end of July and it took them just shy of 7 weeks to issue out a paycheck to me. Yes the amount was back dated but still. Not many have the luxury of not receiving a paycheck for almost 2 months. To top it all off, the original adjuster marked me down for the wrong state which caused a problem from the get go, I've had 3 different adjusters now since each one can't seem to figure out the simplicity of my claim. All my paperwork which includes, my job, house, and drs visits all are from the same state and city but yet some how I have been filed under a completely different state 1500 miles away. They do not answer your phone calls or emails no matter how many you leave. I've had to escalate my frustrations to the supervisors of each of these individuals in order to even get some kind of response. I've had more communication and information given to me about my claim from the customer service representatives then the actual adjusters.......... please tell me how that works?! A serious overhaul needs to happen here in order to serve your clients the way they deserve to be taken care of. 10/10 do not recommend this company to a single soul on earth
I have never had the displeasure of working with a more incompetent and disrespectful person in my life. I’m an injured worker and the adjuster that was assigned to my case was named Carrie Furgeson. In the past 6 weeks that I’ve been injured and out of work I have only been able to get ahold of her twice, not for lack of trying. I have left countless voicemails, countless emails, and she ignores them all. When I am finally able to get ahold of her I’m greeted with terrible customer service. She is rude, she talks over me and I’m hardly able to get a word in edgewise. She spelled my name wrong on my documents even after I spelled it for her properly countless times, this caused a whole new issue with my bank. I have bill collectors from the hospital calling me demanding payment and Carrie Furgeson won’t do a single thing to help, or to get them paid. All of my documentation is in Colorado, my job is in Colorado, my address is in Colorado, all my Dr offices and appointments have been in Colorado and Carrie still managed to hold my claim because she wasn’t sure what state she needed to file it under. It’s been 6 weeks since my Injury and my company still hasn’t received the wage paperwork to fill out so they can get me my correct wages. When she’s not ignoring me she’s answering my questions with “I don’t know” well I don’t know how she got this job, because apparently she doesn’t know anything about it. She is a disgusting morose individual inside and out and I genuinely wish her the worst in all of her future endeavors. I highly recommend you don’t use this company. Please if you are a business owner and your looking into this company please don’t use them. I’m sure they have the cheapest payment and that’s why companies use them in the first place, but you will be doing your employees a grave disservice by forcing them to venture into this absolute dumpster fire of a company. I would rate 0/5 if possible but 1 was the lowest I was allowed.
