If you own or operate an ATV or UTV rental business, it’s important to protect yourself and your assets with the right insurance coverage. General liability insurance is a crucial policy that can safeguard your business against unexpected accidents and incidents.
The coverage limits typically start at $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate.
Customer injury: If a customer sustains injuries while operating an ATV or UTV rented from your business, this ATV rental insurance can cover their medical expenses and protect you from potential lawsuits.
Property damage: In the event that a rented vehicle causes damage to third-party property, such as fences or buildings, general liability insurance can provide coverage for the repair or replacement costs.
Additional insured coverage: This add-on extends coverage to entities or individuals who are not the primary policyholder but have an insurable interest in your ATV or UTV rental business. It can be useful when partnering with other businesses or venues.
Damage waiver coverage: This add-on allows you to offer a damage waiver to customers, shifting the responsibility for damages or theft of the rented vehicles to the customer. It provides an additional layer of protection for your business.
While liability waivers are an essential risk management tool, they may need to provide more comprehensive protection. General liability insurance is still essential, as waivers may not always hold up in court, and certain situations may render them invalid. It ensures financial protection in case of unexpected accidents or incidents.

When operating an ATV or UTV rental business, it’s essential to have professional liability insurance to protect yourself from potential lawsuits arising from errors, negligence, or inadequate services. This policy, also known as errors and omissions insurance, can cover legal defense costs, settlements, and judgments.
The coverage limits typically start at $1 million per claim and $2 million aggregate, but they can be customized based on your business requirements.
Negligent maintenance or inspection: If a rented ATV or UTV malfunctions or causes an accident due to negligent maintenance or inspection on the part of your business, professional liability insurance can cover claims for damages or injuries.
Inaccurate rental documentation: If your business provides inaccurate rental agreements, waivers, or contracts, resulting in disputes or legal issues with customers, professional liability insurance can help cover legal expenses and potential settlements.
No, professional liability insurance is essential for all ATV and UTV rental businesses, regardless of the number of employees. It covers claims arising from professional errors or negligence, protecting your business from financial losses from lawsuits or legal disputes. Any company that rents ATVs or UTVs should have this type of ATV and UTV rental business insurance.

Protecting your physical assets is crucial when you operate an ATV or UTV rental business. Commercial property insurance covers your rental premises, equipment, and other property.
Fire and smoke damage: Commercial property insurance can cover repairs or rebuilding costs if your rental premises, vehicles, or equipment are damaged by fire or smoke.
Theft or vandalism: In the unfortunate event of theft or vandalism, commercial property insurance can provide coverage for stolen or damaged rental vehicles, equipment, or other property, minimizing your financial loss.
Natural disasters: Coverage can extend to damages caused by natural disasters such as storms, hurricanes, or earthquakes, protecting your rental business assets from destruction or damage.
The coverage limits for commercial property insurance depend on the value of your assets and can be tailored to meet your specific business needs.
Business interruption coverage: This add-on provides coverage for loss of income and additional expenses your ATV and UTV rental business may incur if it becomes temporarily inoperable due to a covered loss. It helps mitigate the financial impact of unexpected disruptions.
Equipment breakdown coverage: This add-on protects your business against the costs of repairing or replacing essential equipment, such as rental vehicles, if they break down due to mechanical or electrical failures.
Yes, commercial property insurance is still necessary even if you lease the premises for your rental business. While the property owner may insure the building, you will need this ATV rental insurance to cover your business equipment, inventory, and any improvements or alterations you’ve made to the leased space.

A business owner’s policy (BOP) is a comprehensive insurance package that combines general liability insurance and commercial property insurance into a single policy, providing essential coverage for your business.
Coverage limits for a BOP generally range from $1 million to $3 million, depending on your business’s size and needs.
Business property damage: If your rental premises, vehicles, or equipment suffer damage due to covered perils such as fire, theft, or vandalism, a BOP can help cover the repair or replacement costs.
Lawsuits and legal expenses: In the event of a lawsuit or legal dispute related to your ATV and UTV rental business, a BOP can provide coverage for legal fees, settlements, or judgments, protecting your business from financial strain.
Employment practices liability insurance (EPLI): EPLI provides coverage for claims related to employment practices, such as wrongful termination, discrimination, or harassment allegations brought by employees or former employees. It helps protect your business from the financial impact of such claims.
Business income extension: This add-on extends the coverage for business interruption, providing additional protection for loss of income and necessary expenses for an extended period, ensuring your business remains financially stable during an extended period of downtime.
A BOP provides essential coverage for general liability and property damage, making it a good starting point for most ATV and UTV rental businesses. However, depending on your business’s specific risks and needs, additional policies such as professional liability insurance, commercial auto insurance, or workers’ compensation insurance may be necessary for comprehensive coverage.

Tools and equipment insurance for ATV and UTV rentals is essential for protecting your business from potential risks and financial losses. It covers the tools, machinery, and equipment used in your ATV and UTV rental operations.
Damage or loss of rental equipment: Tools and equipment insurance covers the repair or replacement costs if your rental equipment, such as trailers, ramps, or maintenance tools, is damaged, stolen, or lost due to covered perils.
Equipment malfunction or breakdown: If your rental equipment, such as winches, tow bars, or safety gear, malfunctions or breaks down during use, resulting in customer injuries or property damage, tools, and equipment insurance can provide coverage for resulting liability claims.
The limits for tools and equipment insurance can vary based on the value of your equipment, ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 or more.
Rental equipment replacement cost coverage: This add-on ensures that in the event of a covered loss, your tools and equipment are replaced with new items of similar kind and quality rather than being reimbursed based on their depreciated value.
Yes, having separate tools and equipment insurance is crucial to protect your maintenance and repair tools. While your general liability or commercial property insurance may provide some coverage, having a dedicated policy ensures comprehensive protection against theft, damage, or loss of your tools and equipment.
As an ATV and UTV rental business owner, the safety and well-being of your employees are of utmost importance. Workers compensation insurance provides coverage for medical expenses, lost wages, and rehabilitation costs if your employees are injured or become ill while performing their job duties.
Employee injuries: If one of your employees is injured while performing job-related tasks, such as vehicle maintenance, customer assistance, or equipment handling, workers compensation insurance can cover their medical expenses, including hospital visits, surgeries, medications, and rehabilitation.
Occupational illnesses: If an employee develops an occupational illness or suffers from long-term health issues due to exposure to chemicals, fumes, or other hazardous substances while working for your ATV and UTV rental business, workers compensation insurance can cover medical treatment, ongoing care, and lost wages.
The coverage limits for workers compensation insurance are typically based on state requirements and may vary depending on the number of employees and the nature of your ATV and UTV rental business.
Voluntary compensation coverage: If you have any volunteers or unpaid workers assisting with your ATV and UTV rental business, this add-on extends workers compensation coverage to them, ensuring they are protected in case of injuries or illnesses.
Return-to-work programs: This add-on focuses on assisting injured employees in their return to work by providing vocational rehabilitation, training, and support services. It aims to facilitate a smooth transition back into the workforce and minimize the impact of the injury on their earning potential.
If an employee gets injured, the first step is to ensure they receive immediate medical attention. Promptly report the incident to your ATV rental insurance provider and initiate the claims process. It’s crucial to document the details of the injury, gather any witness statements, and maintain records of medical expenses and treatments for the claim. Compliance with all reporting and documentation requirements will help ensure a smoother claims process.
Operating a fleet of ATVs and UTVs for your rental business comes with the need for comprehensive ATV rental insurance coverage. Commercial auto insurance specifically designed for ATV and UTV rentals protects your rental vehicles and covers liability for accidents or damages.
Vehicle theft or vandalism: Commercial auto insurance can protect your rental vehicles against theft, vandalism, and other forms of malicious damage. It can cover repair or replacement costs if vandals steal or damage your vehicles.
Damage to rental vehicles: If your rental vehicles suffer damage due to non-collision incidents such as fire, theft, falling objects, or severe weather, commercial auto insurance can cover the repair or replacement costs.
The limits depend on factors like your vehicle’s value and the type of coverage you choose. The limits range from $100,000 to $2 million.
Rental vehicle liability coverage: This add-on extends liability coverage to vehicles rented from other businesses or individuals. It ensures that if an accident occurs while a customer uses a rented vehicle, your insurance for ATV rental business will provide coverage for bodily injury and property damage claims.
Non-owned auto coverage: Non-owned auto coverage protects your business in the event of an accident caused by an employee using their personal vehicle for work-related purposes. It covers liability claims arising from such incidents, providing additional protection.
When choosing commercial auto insurance for your ATV and UTV rental business, several factors should be taken into account:
Risk assessment: Assess the risks associated with your business. This includes considering the terrain where the ATVs or UTVs Will be used, the age and experience level of your typical renter, and the value of your vehicle fleet.
Coverage limits: Consider the potential costs associated with accidents, property damage, or injuries, and choose a coverage limit that adequately protects your business.
Policy exclusions: Make sure to understand what is not covered under your policy. There might be certain situations or types of damage that are not covered.
Insurance provider: Choose an insurer with a solid reputation, offers good customer service, and understands the unique needs of an ATV or UTV rental business.

ATV and UTV rental insurance cost is $43 per month or $516 per year for a $1 million general liability coverage. Several factors can influence the cost of insurance for ATV rental business. These factors are important considerations for insurance providers when calculating premiums. Here are the key factors that can affect the cost of these insurance types:
Coverage types: The types of coverage you choose for your ATV or UTV rental business will impact the overall cost. Common coverage types include general liability insurance, commercial property insurance, workers’ compensation insurance, commercial auto insurance, and professional liability insurance. The more comprehensive the coverage, the higher the ATV rental insurance premium is likely to be.
Coverage limits: The coverage limits you select for each type of insurance will also affect the cost. Higher coverage limits provide increased protection but may result in higher premiums. Assess your business’s needs and risks to determine appropriate coverage limits that strike a balance between protection and affordability.
Business size: The size of your ATV or UTV rental business can influence ATV rental insurance costs. Factors such as the number of ATVs or UTVs in your fleet, the size of your operation, and the number of employees can impact premiums. Larger businesses with more vehicles and higher exposure to risks may face higher insurance costs.
Location: The location of your ATV or UTV rental business plays a significant role in determining insurance premiums. Insurance companies consider factors such as the local weather conditions, crime rates, and the frequency of accidents in the area. If your business operates in an area with a higher risk of theft, vandalism, or accidents, it may result in higher insurance costs.
Claims history: Your claims history and loss experience can influence the ATV rental business insurance cost. Insurance companies consider your past claims and accidents when calculating premiums. If you have a history of frequent claims or high-value claims, it may lead to higher insurance costs. Conversely, maintaining a clean claims record can help lower premiums.
Risk assessment: Insurance providers assess the level of risk associated with your ATV or UTV rental business. They consider your safety protocols, maintenance practices, employee training, and security measures. A comprehensive risk management strategy can help mitigate risks and potentially reduce insurance costs.

Embroker sells a product that it doesn't honor. We purchased a combination D&O and EPLI policy. However, when it came to renewal, it told us that we only had D&O coverage even through our ACCORD certificate clearly mentions we have both. Basically they refused to honor the EPLI coverage and will leave you hanging with the bag. At time of renewal, they more than doubled our quote to get similar coverage. Basically BAIT & SWITCH. Unacceptable tactics. Easy to buy and pay but you may not be... Read More
Great platform. Terrible policy. There is no teeth behind it. No coverage. It's a fake policy that they sell. Sold us an EPLI policy that later we came to find out had no EPLI coverage. Amazing that they can get away with outright fraud. Check the positive reviews. They are all 'Anonymous' posted by Emroker staff. Stay away and find a real policy that will actually provide you coverage. We've been bitten by them and hope to find restitution via a lawsuit.

Great experience
Didn't relate to the concept much, but it makes sense if you need insurance to go
It doesn't really feel sustainable to me and doesn't offer business interruption, product liability and commercial property insurance. They have no local agents and despite their technology first approach you cannot file claims online. Additionally, product manufacturers are not covered by Thimble and they don't provide enterprise solutions.
As a contractor that works 3 times a week for a few hours, Thimble gets really handy for me and saves me money. I have no use for these massive business insurance coverages offered by traditional insurance companies.
Excellent concept which is useful to many small businesses!
