It's estimated that there are at least 19,987 car accidents a day and 7.3 million accidents in a year. Out of these accidents, approximately 118 deaths are recorded in a day. Out of 63 people, one person is at risk of getting in a vehicle accident.
And if you live in West Virginia, these risks increase by two folds due to the unpredictability of weather conditions this state faces and the increased incidents of speeding and aggressive driving. With all this in mind, it's only paramount that every business owner purchases WV commercial auto insurance.
Commercial auto insurance protects you and your business vehicles. It covers business-related trucks, vans, and cars. This insurance covers car theft, damage, and accidents. In addition, it covers bodily injury and property damage caused by your commercial vehicles. With West Virginia commercial auto insurance, your company's assets will be protected.
This business insurance protects you from any financial consequences you may be subjected to if your commercial vehicle gets damaged or causes third-party bodily injuries or property damage. This policy grants the following:
This coverage protects you from legal expenses and financial obligations if you are sued for damages caused by your commercial vehicle. It includes bodily injury and property damage liability, covering medical expenses, legal fees, and property repair or replacement costs for third parties involved in an accident.
If your delivery truck collides with another vehicle, causing injuries to the driver and damaging their car, your auto liability coverage would help pay for their medical expenses and vehicle repairs.
This component covers the costs of repairing your commercial vehicle following a collision with another vehicle or object, regardless of fault. It reimburses you for damages up to the actual cash value of your vehicle. Example: If your commercial van collides with a tree and sustains significant damage, collision coverage would help cover the repair or replacement costs.
Comprehensive coverage protects your commercial vehicle against damages caused by non-collision incidents, such as fire, theft, vandalism, or weather-related events like hailstorms or floods. It reimburses repairs or replacements based on the vehicle's actual cash value.
This insurance component covers you if you are involved in an accident with a motorist who does not have liability insurance or whose coverage is insufficient to cover your losses. It helps pay for your medical expenses and vehicle repairs. Uninsured motorist coverage protects if you are in an accident with a motorist with liability insurance not enough to cover your losses. It helps bridge the gap between the other party's inadequate coverage and your actual expenses.
The make of your commercial vehicle and its engine model are some of the factors that determine your monthly and annual commercial vehicle insurance premium rates. The type of commercial vehicle insurance you choose and the type of commercial vehicle you want to insure are also premium rate-determining factors.
Commercial auto insurance covers a wide range of vehicles used for different purposes. Here are the vehicle categories explained:
West Virginia commercial auto insurance covers box trucks and dump trucks, which haul and unload loose items like gravel and construction debris. Flatbed and enclosed trailers convey huge or fragile freight. Covered moving vans with ramps or lift gates transport furniture efficiently. To meet commercial transportation demands, tempos and trucks of various sizes and capacities are provided.
West Virginia commercial auto insurance covers taxis and cabs that provide on-demand city transportation. School buses are also covered. Private buses convey tour groups, employees, and eventgoers. Rickshaws, small, manually, or electrically driven urban transportation vehicles, are also passenger vehicles.
West Virginia commercial auto insurance covers industry-specific work vehicles. Farmers use tractor engines and attachments for plowing, tilling, and hauling. In warehouses, building sites, and factories, forklifts lift and move big goods. Covered bulldozers push and level materials during construction or earthmoving jobs.
While commercial vehicle insurance provides coverage for a wide range of risks, there are certain situations and circumstances that are typically not covered by commercial vehicle insurance in West Virginia. Here are some common exclusions:
Terrorism acts
Electrical and mechanical breakdown

In addition to the core coverage components, commercial auto insurance in West Virginia may offer various add-ons or optional coverage options that businesses can consider to enhance their insurance protection. These add-ons provide additional coverage for specific risks or situations. Here are some common add-ons for commercial auto insurance in West Virginia:
This add-on covers the cost of things that are used up quickly and may need to be replaced or restocked after an accident or damage. These items consist of AC gas oil, engine oil, transmission oil, power steering oil, coolant, and other fluids of a similar nature. It ensures that these consumable costs are covered by your commercial auto insurance policy.
When you purchase a new commercial vehicle, its value starts depreciating immediately. If your new vehicle is involved in an accident that renders it beyond repair, this add-on ensures that you receive financial assistance to compensate for the loss of the vehicle's value due to depreciation. It helps you receive a higher claim amount than what would be given based on the depreciated value.
This add-on provides coverage for the repair or replacement costs of your commercial vehicle's engine or engine components. In the event of engine damage due to accidents, mechanical failures, or other covered perils, this coverage ensures that the expenses associated with repairing or replacing the engine are taken care of.
If you lease or rent commercial vehicles and they become unavailable due to an insured risk, such as an accident or theft, this add-on provides financial aid to cover the cost of renting a replacement vehicle. It helps you continue your business operations without interruptions caused by the unavailability of your own commercial vehicles.
This add-on offers coverage against legal expenses incurred as a result of motor-related lawsuits and prosecutions. It protects your business from legal bills, court charges, and other legal expenses resulting from commercial vehicle accidents.
This add-on provides assistance in case your commercial vehicle breaks down while on the road. It covers the cost of emergency services such as towing, tire changing, fuel delivery, battery jump-start, and other necessary roadside assistance. This coverage ensures that you receive prompt help to get your vehicle back on the road and minimize any disruptions to your bussiness activities.

Use anyone except Employers. Period. They are non-transparent and shameful. After I complained long enough to warrant a call from a supervisor, the supervisor called back from a PRIVATE NUMBER (no caller ID), left a message that they are not reversing their decision (without any communication with me), and failed to leave a phone number for me to call back. She was hiding! They also fact find via email and phone calls, which is terrific for speed and communication. However, after setting a precedence of email or phone calls, they send time sensitive information via email, without any heads up... they are hoping you miss it and forfeit via expiration. Evil policies. Go elsewhere.
This place is an absolute joke of a company and should be ashamed of the way they conduct business. I was hurt on the job at the end of July and it took them just shy of 7 weeks to issue out a paycheck to me. Yes the amount was back dated but still. Not many have the luxury of not receiving a paycheck for almost 2 months. To top it all off, the original adjuster marked me down for the wrong state which caused a problem from the get go, I've had 3 different adjusters now since each one can't seem to figure out the simplicity of my claim. All my paperwork which includes, my job, house, and drs visits all are from the same state and city but yet some how I have been filed under a completely different state 1500 miles away. They do not answer your phone calls or emails no matter how many you leave. I've had to escalate my frustrations to the supervisors of each of these individuals in order to even get some kind of response. I've had more communication and information given to me about my claim from the customer service representatives then the actual adjusters.......... please tell me how that works?! A serious overhaul needs to happen here in order to serve your clients the way they deserve to be taken care of. 10/10 do not recommend this company to a single soul on earth
I have never had the displeasure of working with a more incompetent and disrespectful person in my life. I’m an injured worker and the adjuster that was assigned to my case was named Carrie Furgeson. In the past 6 weeks that I’ve been injured and out of work I have only been able to get ahold of her twice, not for lack of trying. I have left countless voicemails, countless emails, and she ignores them all. When I am finally able to get ahold of her I’m greeted with terrible customer service. She is rude, she talks over me and I’m hardly able to get a word in edgewise. She spelled my name wrong on my documents even after I spelled it for her properly countless times, this caused a whole new issue with my bank. I have bill collectors from the hospital calling me demanding payment and Carrie Furgeson won’t do a single thing to help, or to get them paid. All of my documentation is in Colorado, my job is in Colorado, my address is in Colorado, all my Dr offices and appointments have been in Colorado and Carrie still managed to hold my claim because she wasn’t sure what state she needed to file it under. It’s been 6 weeks since my Injury and my company still hasn’t received the wage paperwork to fill out so they can get me my correct wages. When she’s not ignoring me she’s answering my questions with “I don’t know” well I don’t know how she got this job, because apparently she doesn’t know anything about it. She is a disgusting morose individual inside and out and I genuinely wish her the worst in all of her future endeavors. I highly recommend you don’t use this company. Please if you are a business owner and your looking into this company please don’t use them. I’m sure they have the cheapest payment and that’s why companies use them in the first place, but you will be doing your employees a grave disservice by forcing them to venture into this absolute dumpster fire of a company. I would rate 0/5 if possible but 1 was the lowest I was allowed.
