I would like to give several thumbs up to Liberty Mutual for not increasing car insurance rates even following an accident. Was sure it's going to be raised but was pleasantly surprised. Guess my clean driving history helped as well! Excellent company.

Liberty Mutual is an excellent car insurance choice. Very reliable. Their auto insurance rates might not be the most affordable rates, but you're covered from every possible direction and when you really need to activate the car insurance, you're in good hands and will be grateful for choosing them over cheaper options!

I switched to Liberty mutual a few months ago after got recommendations from a salesperson. Unfortunately, I have had a bad experience since the first moment I switched. My agent could not update my account successfully, my claims agent never returned any of my many phone calls, emails, or test messages for over two days… They have the worst customer service in the world. I have been using insurance for many long years and never came across such a horrible customer service. Do not recommend!

Liberty Mutual is one of the more simple companies to deal with. I had to file a claim for my business owner policy after I caught one of my employees stealing a large amount of products from my business. Liberty mutual paid the claim fast and with no efforts. I wish the legal process was as easy…

Do not use Liberty Mutual for your motorcycle insurance!!! I ride a ’96 Goldwing and they had me paying $568 a year.. Terrible rates!!! I tried Geico and their quote Wass for $189.69 - 67% LESS THAN LIBERTY!!!! I called them to cancel my policy and now they want to charge me $126 for canceling early… DO NOT USE LIBERTY MUTUAL FOR MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE!!!

I had a horrible experience with Liberty Mutual. I had two moving violations and my granddaughter got into an accident, so they cancelled my policy.. I called NYS finance and they told me I can get cancelled for any reason.. I don’t believe I am Liberty Mutual worst insured driver and highest risk…. I do not recommend Liberty Mutual.

Do NOT go with Liberty Mutual for your car insurance!!! I got a policy with them at 2002 and all was fine at the beginning. In the past two years everything has changed. Suddenly my insurance got DOUBLED for the whole year without any explanation. I called to ask about the reasons why the increase and they said I need tot all to my agent in the local office which I have been with since 2002. Called them and they told me I was switched to a different office, some 45 minutes drive away. Never telling me why I got switched. Asking about the increase, I was given many different reasons….. horrible company, I do not recommend !

I am extremely upset with Liberty Mutual insurance. We have been with Liberty Mutual for a long time. Almost 25 with homeowners, umbrella and car insurance with this company. My wife hit a big rock in a hotel parking lot. The front bumper and sensors got damaged. her only accident in 25 years! We took the car to get an estimate for the damage and have been on an endless battle with Liberty Mutual agent and the repair shop they subcontract to get our car fixed, with no communication. It has been almost two weeks now. Our deductible is $250 and with the amount that Liberty Mutual is willing to pay, it will cost us around $1100 OUT OF POCKET, plus the costs of the days we have been using a rental for (almost two weeks). I do not recommend!

I swear this is the worst insurance company I ever had to deal with EVER!!! I’ve been driving for over 15 years and insured with different companies, but I have never experienced such a horrible customer service in my life! If you consider going with Liberty Mutual - I suggest that you reconsider your choices! You are better off paying more money and actually get a company you can trust. Their customer service reps are undertrained and even hung up on me!! When asking to speak to a manager you are told to wait 48 hours until one of them contact you. NO one ever contacted me. EVER. I left at least 5 emails and multiple voice messages until they finally called me back just to tell me that the agent responsible for my case is unavailable and a sub rep will help instead… The sub rep repeats the same exact process and you find yourself being passed around like a ball with zero information about your status. After long months of achieving nothing with this company, I came across rep Sheri Shaffer who was helpful enough in solving most of my problems.. Thank you Sheri, the other reps have a lot to learn from your basic human skills!

Do not waste your time with them! My car got totalled caused by an improper lane change made by another person. Liberty Mutual said that 10% of the falt was mine because I did not decrease speed to avoid collusion caused by Linda, who crossed two lanes of traffic and hit my car… Liberty Mutual is the worst insurance company ever… Last year same exact thing happened to me and the hitting driver’s insurance company - Geico - treated me so much better!!! Liberty Mutual is simply the worst and I will never recommend them to anyone!!!!!

Very disappointed of Liberty Mutual! I was excited for my new policy with them, unfortunately my joy was quickly terminated by their horrible customer service!! I was in total shock today to find that the new car insurance policy for my family was increased by $73 a month - almost 40% more than last year, with no claims filed!! Liberty Mutual said this was due to numerous reasons like some data about claims in NY, insurance fraud etc. Nevertheless, this massive increase is simply outrageous. We feel that Liberty Mutual are mistreating us and we are now shopping around to find a better company!

I was very surprised to notice a $70 increase in the premium. They gave me the usual insurance nonsense and tried to push me to drop coverage and lower the payments. Had no accounting for any payouts or claims for over a decade and all those premiums that I have paid have simply been somehow forgotten. And yet, I have noticed that year after year they have raised their premiums more and more. If they do this with all their customers - that’s millions of dollars! I still didn’t get any phone call back from anyone in LM regarding the increase in the premiums even tho I left them at least two messages. I got a surcharge for a collision but was told that the company checks on you 5 years back. So you are for sure going to get penalized for at least 5 years. I had a $40 hike for that collision from last year and looking to get another $70 hike next year… I used to recommend Liberty Mutual to others. NEVER AGAIN!

I received my policy by Liberty Mutual sales agent. I got a phone call from a different agent saying that they need to come and take photos of my home, which I do not need to present for. Then I had a big delay but naturally I assumed that I am covered by their policy. Two months later, Liberty Mutual decided to cancel my policy but I only received the cancelation notice a month after. The reason for the cancelation stated "yard debris, peeling paint on the window sils and peeling paint on the shed" My house is neat and I use my shed in the backyard, for garden tools storage, not for my valuables and should not have been included in the policy. MY yard has no debris, so I don’t even know where they got this from. Maybe they looked at my neighbours house, not mine… neither does my NY agent nor Liberty Mutual are willing to work with me to resolve the situation. Both pretty much said “sorry, I can’t help”. I believe their reasons for declining are false and feels more like they were simply looking to bundle as much as possible with high policies on my home and car insurance. I purchased house insurance in Oregon and received an excellent service. I don’t know why Liberty Mutual works in different ways in two different states.. Bogus company!

LibMu and SafeCo are both scammers and con artists! IF you want to dispose your money and have nothing better to waste your time on, you should sign with them… They will take your money with a smile and then send you a bill for the full amount, while they’re actually supposed to charge you monthly.premiums. If this is not enough you can then expect them to penny-pitch your car repairs and even deny some of them.. We had $14000 in damage to our RV which they minimized down to $1400. Yes, 1/10 of the valued damage! We were told to take the RV to another repair shop because the repair limit that they approved was not performed by our repair shop because of excessive liability issues. I seriously have no idea how this company still exists. I guess it’s true what they say - there’s a sucker born every minute. Learn from our experience and keep away from This company!

Liberty Mutual are overpriced and misleading. I chose Liberty Mutual because they were the cheapest and also had a decent rating. 4 years ago I had a minor accident. After the accident my rates increased drastically even tho I had First Accident Forgiveness promised to me. Not too long ago I received a renewal notice for $1400 and when I called them to get explanations, they said that other insurance companies would charge me even more than that because of the accident I had. Whatever happened to First Accident Forgiveness??? I do not recommend this company and I will never return to them ever again! I signed up with Progressive and they were $900 cheaper and gave me a better coverage!

Liberty Mutual are so overpriced and only give you minimum coverage. I accidentally hit another car, a minor scratch really. They told me first accident they will forgive. Liberty Mutual lied to get me as a customer. They also told me that I need to stay with them for 3 years before I can get it removed. What happened to first accident forgiveness????? I will NEVER use this company again !!!

The worst insurance company ever with the most horrible customer experience in the world… the first rep was very inexperienced. The second one was quite accusatory with his attitude towards me and because he was not able to help, he simply hung up on me. My payment was supposed to be $130 a month but have to pay $190 because I am not enrolled in direct deposit even tho I have always made my payments on time for years. This happened because I had to get a new ATM since my previous one got stolen and used without my permission. I had to call Liberty Mutual and explain my situation. I paid $217 to catch up on my payments and was told my payments would be $130 again. This never happened. Instead, they sent me bills for $217 for not being enrolled in direct payment program. I was told there would be no exception and that I have to pay the rest - $197. All this for a 2005 Ford Hybrid with limited ability. I am over 25 years old with good record. KEEP AWAY FROM LIBERTY MUTUAL!!! Worst customer service.

I have been a satisfied customer of Liberty Mutual for more than 20 years, But then I actually had to file a claim, after I got hit by a drunk driver. As a result of the accident, my granddaughter fractured one of her orbital bones and I broke my 8th rib on the right side with both of us suffering multiple contusions. The hitting driver had minimal insurance so I had my lawyer filing it under uninsured motorist with Liberty Mutual. To my big surprise, their rep awarded my granddaughter for the full amount. She is now fully recovered tho being haunted by flashbacks and bad memories. My experience was different tho, as my doctor took a very long time to find my broken rib bone even tho I kept complaining about back pain, had a visual mark on my lung behind the. Fracture, as well as trauma to my left breast area. Months later, after it healed, the doctor finally ordered the X-rays.. Liberty Mutual rep felt like the doctor didn’t fill up the report well enough and only awarded me with $2000.. I really feel like my age had a lot to do with the rep’s decision. I am 62 and of course, the older you get the more ache you have in your body but this pain is totally different. Today, the more active I get, the more pain I endure and this has effected my lifestyle in many ways. This. Entire experience has opened my eyes as to how the people in fault simply get away with a slap on the wrist, while the innocent victims deal with the consequences … I pray to never find myself in this kind of situation again! Liberty Mutual is a “let me take your money” kind of company, but when it’s tie for them to help their clients and pay claims - the will do everything in their power to deny, avoid and neglect. DO NOT GO WITH Liberty Mutual! You will regret this for the rest of your life, just like do.. 2 years later - I am still in pain!

Liberty Mutual is horrible when you fie a claim… An SUV hit me while I was in a Costco parking lot, parked. Of course this was never my fault but when I called the police, the officer would not write a report on the accident as it happened on a private property. I filed a claim with Liberty Mutual, sent them all the documents and photos that I took, which clearly indicates who hit who. Called the other guy’s insurance company, Allstate to tell them what have happened. Called them again the next day and already their rep have made a decision that I Was at fault, defending their own client. It took Liberty Mutual about 2 week to reach the same decision… Liberty Mutual rep said she can close the claim and only give me the claim number… I did not receive any assistance pursuing the other person, I was the one and only one to make phone calls.. I had to fix my car and pay $970 - which is below our policy deductible and yet we got absolutely nothing from them! I asked their rep to get the money from the other insurance company, she said we could only do that if the bill come out higher than the deductible. .. I just hung up on her and called Allstate. Two weeks later I received 80% of my bill! If I chose to listen to the rep, I would have been paying the full amount for fixing my car.. Allstate handles claims better than Liberty Mutual does for their OWN CUSTOMERS!

I Was a customer of Liberty Mutual for many years. One day my car got hit sitting in a red light. It took a lifetime for the other person’s insurance company to file a claim.. I only had that one car, so I filed a claim myself. Suddenly my rates jumped up to around $190 a month. In addition to that they also gave me only one week to find a rental. I took part in their monitoring program for a safe driver discount and they gave me a discount of $3!!!! After being with Liberty Mutual for so many years I had enough and made up my mind to switch. The very same day of my cancellation their rep wouldn’t fully identify or even give me his agent number saying he only has a first name ….. I would never recommend Liberty Mutual to anyone ever! The only time they were good was when I drove my car on the highway and a rock hit my windshield and I was able to get it fixed on the same day. Anything else they had to do took forever to accomplish. They are seriously overpriced, their customer service is terrible and they are just disappointing and frustrating to deal with!

Never go with Liberty Mutual for car insurance! They do an excellent job taking your money for years, until you finally need their help… They use another company called SafeCo to deal with all their claims. My car got stolen and after that happened they just treated me like I was the criminal in the story. I sent them bank records showing all the details they have asked for and their response was that there’s no way my car could have get stolen! 2 months have passed, I have sent them all that they have asked for but they denied my claim. I ended up getting a lawyer to fight them. Don’t go with Liberty Mutual!

I joined Liberty Mutual as a customer at 2004 and I have been working there as a Talent Acquisition Specialist for the past 6 years. I had to leave the country for 3 months thinking I had added my car insurance policy to auto-draft. I had my home and umbrella insurances paid in full. I never received any phone call or email stating that my car insurance policy was going to get cancelled. After 20 years without a single payment skipped, they cancelled it and said they’d have to rewrite the policy. They then asked me to pay full year upfront - $4000… I was so disappointed and offended! I gave up on them and called State Farm who had the same coverage policy for a cheaper pay. Don’t go with Liberty Mutual!

Liberty Mutual is the worst company I ever had to deal with. I Am 75 years old and I do not recommend this company to ANYONE ever! You cannot trust this company. Their agents will steal from you, file false documentations and then cancel your policy!

I was insured with Liberty Mutual for 5 years. Every year they charged me more, when my policy renewed. They called it a “down payment”… I cancelled my policy with them and now they want to charge me for 2 more months.. The only reason I pay is so I don’t have to deal with this company anymore. Back in 2017 I got hit by another car which jumped higher almost $300, I should have left them right there and then. I do not recommend Liberty Mutual to anyone. Make sure you look at what you sign. If you get into an accident you will be very upset with Liberty Mutual!

Worst company ever! Got our rooftop cleaned off snow, by a person who had Liberty Mutual insurance. An acquaintance saw that this person had a $1M policy, so we figured it was safe to use them for the job. Unfortunately, he ruined my garage door which destroyed the garage door opener when one of his workers rammed it. He promised to fix it fast but wouldn’t give me his insurance company name.. I was selling the house and now couldn’t use the garage, or move things in and out of it. After a while Veteran Insurance took over the claim and fixed everything. They used subrogation and they contacted the insured person who finally got Liberty Mutual, about 6 months later!!! I filled up the payment documents for the garage door and opener including all the additional costs. Mutual Liberty worked in snail-like speed for 3 more months and then paid me $200 more than my claim and deductible. It is about to go up to one year now, and my subrogation still can’t get Liberty Mutual to give me my money!

I was insured with Liberty Mutual and got into a serious car accident that almost killed my daughter and I, and Liberty Mutual took advantage of us. They refused to investigate the accident saying it was a single car accident and had no casualties… we both suffered injuries and all they wanted to do is close my case and move on. Today, two years later I still suffer physical pain and my policy won’t cover my chiropractor treatments, that help me to deal with it. In addition to all that, the cause of the accident was the steering wheel that got locked, and yet they blame the driver! They said it was for insurance purposes - they had to blame SOMEONE! Seriously?! I turn green whenever their commercials play on the TV and I share my story with anyone I can to let them know how Liberty Mutual treated us!

I’ve been with Liberty Mutual for over 18 years now and not too long ago I got cancelled by them. My child got into a car collision and got a ticket. About a year passed by and I got a letter in the mail from them saying that they have cancelled my entire family and wouldn’t consider to resolve the situation. After my child left home to go to college I called Liberty Mutual and asked their rep if I could keep my insurance with the, as long as I provide a separate policy for my child. I was declined and told that she is still part of the family and have access to our cars…. I contacted Amica who were more than happy to cover my family except for that one child, if I can prove that they are covered by another company and they even suggested I cover my family with Progressive. Progressive were happy to insure my whole family including that one child. This child’s driving is being monitored using a camera. Today I use Progressive for my home and car insurance with a much better coverage and currently saving about $1500 a year! WOOHA! When Liberty Mutual rep asked me on the phone why I wanted to cancel, I told her why and she apologized and said that in a year or so they would love to have me back with them… But, do I want to pay an extra $1500 a year? …. On a different story, about a year ago I had a leakage in my home from a broken dishwasher. I called Liberty Mutual to know if I was covered, and their reply was “no, do you want to add it now?”. They stated that the new coverage is likely to cover my damage, even tho it happened ahead of buying the new policy and told me to call back a week later… A week passed and I called back. The rep said that they would not cover this kind of damage!!! In the past 18 years I paid them probably around $90K. As long as you don’t file a claim, Liberty Mutual would love to have you as a customer!
