Companies like this make you wonder why you can’t give less than one star. Their representative took weeks to contact me and then had poor communication about what they needed for my claim, taking weeks again between replies. I still haven’t heard from them in end of May 2023 for a claim in February. 0/0 terrible company.

There are systems used by this company to make things difficult. Here are some hints below: * The wording in their contract is a sales pitch and on purpose to make you think you have the coverage you don’t. Be very careful- just avoid. * If you make a claim they will purposefully make delays in response times, lose paperwork and tell you to send it again repeatedly. This is a very carefully researched system to have you give up on your claim and walk away. Most do, and that’s a success story for them without having to offer the services promised. Unfortunately, it works well. * You can’t find any information to get ahold of anyone directly. It takes months to get a phone number for an adjuster alone and that’s if you’re lucky. Emails only and that will be slow. * 800 number will get you on a line that is trained to waste your time and not accomplish anything. The long wait times, repeated requests for your info on the phone, and no transfer to anyone useful is a very strong setup to make you give up. We kept on regardless of this. After many months and repeated calls (and emails) we were denied. I got the insurance adjuster (that took a lot of work) which made that call and went through the contract very thoroughly. The wording in the contract can go any way they wish. Again, very carefully set up system in the hopes you will give up. These systems are creating a lot of mistrust and I will personally never purchase travel insurance again, ever.

AIG worst nightmare ever do not purchased anything from this company they will deny your policy and still take money out of your account causing overdraft fees to your account and replying well you need to send proof of fees we don’t see anything on your account it’s closed . I can imagine if I had died I’m sure my daughter would have been disappointed because she would not have received a Dime . Theses people are just like the thieves in the streets just not using a weapon. Professional Thieves

Please DONOT buy insurance from this company especially travel insurance. They never cover anything when it is time to claim even if the case is emergency. They do not follow what is written on the policy. You will only waste your money and time. They will give a lot of reasons so they can reject your claim. Be careful, this is fraud.

Worst Insurance Experience Ever! So Bad i would say its criminal. Never ever book a Travel Insurance with AIG! I had insurance on a Rental car booked with Expedia, had a car accident, the police determined it wasnt my faul. 1.) Filing insurance claims with AIG is the biggest nightmare, they make it as hard as possible to talk to a human being and when you actually get to one its some support person who has no clue and only tells you to wait. On Average it took 4 weeks for them to reply everytime I had a question. Meanwhile the third party insurance paid almost immediatly. 2.) Why should i pay anything at all if it wasnt my fault? Even tho the accident was not my fault, AIG tried as hard as they could to get out of paying anything. After waiting for almost a half a year, they payed me out 240 dollars, leaving an additonal 300 for me to pay out of pocket. On top of all this they took off 150,- of the amount they were paying me out for Administrative fees, paying themselfs from my money, event tho they did the worst job ever! Dont ever use AIG you will be left in the Dust!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AIG will never see another Dime from me again!!!!!! I will make sure no one close to me or any of my Business Partners ever have to deal with this and will always strongly advise to not rely on any AIG services! Thank you AIG for the worst customer service ever!!!!

The travel insurance is absolutely useless. My luggage was lost when I reached my destination on international travel. I submitted the lost luggage forms the airline provided immediately. Got the automated "we handle all claims in order received, typically within 10-15 business days." It's now pushing two months and my claim status hasn't changed since the day I submitted it. Even after multiple contacts with customer service. AIG did absolutely nothing. Still is doing nothing. I had to replace everything including my medications out of pocket which were incredibly expensive. God knows what would happen if someone actually had life threatening emergency and has to go to the hospital with the travel insurance. They'd be in deep trouble. I actually had to submit two claims. The second was because I did need to see a doctor on my trip. All AIG did was tell me to pay for it up front and save the receipts and call me a couple times to ask if I paid a doctor to examine me and refill my medications, and if I made it home okay. Why? So they can ignore me more after I return home? I truly don't know what the purpose of travel insurance with them, if their clients are in their own regardless of the insurance that we PAY FOR. No one has even contacted me to ask for additional supporting documents on my claim. I only found out what I should submit through my own research! They're literally ignoring my claim and pocketing the money from my policy purchase. All of this so more than likely they will just deny my claim anyway. I'll never purchase AIG travel insurance again and I don't recommend it to anyone. It's useless. Especially for someone who doesn't have to pay for medical treatment ever again as a retired veteran. They did absolutely nothing to help me or render service I can actually use. Useless

I DO NOT recommend this life insurance company. AIG bought out Franklin Life Ins Co (who we had a policy with from 1978). After AIG took over, they paid us $1 per year dividend on our annuity. Our left our policy invested for 44 years & earned almost nothing on our long term investment.

Ok so I gave online 4 stars well because I never use it. I have nothing bad to say about AIG. I had a very nice policy and when my wife passed. They where very good about getting me my money. The hardest part was not them it was waiting on the death certificate. One I got that they got me my money pretty fast and all of what I was paying on. I may be stupid but I am still paying them for my life insurance but I probably should stop. I would definitely tell anyone to use them.

AIG has not been the same since the scandal of 2009. Unfortunately I took out a 30-year term policy with them so I'm stuck but they have done two updates on their website and it automatically sets things like your payments to auto pay etc wait times are horrible and if you do have a claim you are going to jump through many hoops and hurdles no matter how many years you have paid on your policy as they do everything to try and not pay out any of your policy amount and then they try to but limits of liability on the person that died giving you a lower payout than once you've been paying on all this year. Please at all costs avoid AIG as I am now sitting on hold again for an hour and 13 minutes trying to make a payment because they updated their website once again and have enrolled me in reoccurring payments which is not a good thing when you pay from several different accounts. I don't normally review but I don't want anybody to have to deal with this and they're constant updates with their websites to put things in their favor and the way you're treated if you have to try and get a payout from AIG the rating has slipped from 5:00 to 3.2 but look up the huge scandal in 2009 and you are understand what I'm saying thank you

Crooks, to put it quite simply. We took out a policy with AIG through the jetstar website for a trip to NZ. Flights back home were delayed out of NZ to Melbourne and then again from Melbourne to QLD. 2 days of BS and being messed around by jetstar already destroyed our first family holiday in 3 years but then we get thee added BS from aig! Filled a claim when we got home, got an email back saying it this matter would be addressed within 10 days. 13 emails, 7 phone calls (hours involved here) and finally we get a claim notification that basically says they are only going to pay for 1 days delay not 2 (despite their policy wording being very clear; (We will pay: 5.1 Your reasonable extra expenses, actually and necessary incurred, if, due to any unforeseeable circumstances outside your control, the departure of the scheduled transport on which you are booked to travel is delayed for at least 10 hours. 5.2 We will pay up to $250 for each day the delay continues but if you claim this benefit, we will not pay for any accommodation, meal and travelling expenses under Section 4.1.) Absolute crooks and the biggest mess around ever. Also, impossible to speak to anyone in Australia!

One of the irresponsible company. Do not care about their customer. Customer service representatives are so rude and not very good communicator, Do not understand the customer needs. I have been working on my claims form last 3 months none of them are responding to my calls or Emails. Ashley Diehn who is taking care of my claims and I don't know if she is still working or just ignoring my emails and calls. I have submitted my Son and mine medical certificates and they never checked that or just ignored our case. I will never recommend their travel or any insurance and i will not be taking their services ever again. Save your time please don't go to AIG.

Has a bag stolen, while traveling. I filed for the maximum value, since the total cost was more than that. AIG wanted the police report and "original receipts" for all lost items. I provided the police report. AIG then required me to file a claim with my homeowners' insurance, and said they would pay for any unpaid portion. To my surprise, my homeowners' insurance paid for my claim (filed, processed and paid in 1 day), minus a$500 deductible. I submitted everything to AIG and they got back to me after several weeks, asking me to explain why the amounts in the Police Report, the AIG claim and the Homeowners Claim were different. I explained everything and told them to drop my claim, they practice death by a thousand cuts. Absolute shite.

Agree with the other reviews I have read. Trying to close out a claim from my fathers death and they messed up the mailing of the check (sent to wrong address) even though they had the correct information. Took another three weeks and still it is "under review". Customer service is the worst, agents don't understand English, when you ask for a Supervisor, you get put on hold for 30+ minutes. They say they will follow up, but don't. Horrible company to work with and get things finalized. I certainly wouldn't put my hard earned money with a company with such poor customer service when you need to settle a claim.

I'm executor of my father's estate and having to deal with AIG annuity services has been nothing short of a nightmare. The level of incompetency and true ignorance by the service reps is appalling. The average hold time is 30 minutes and the amount of times calls are dropped is beyond normal. Just a unhelpful awful and time consuming experience with a huge company that apparently hires 1 person (who uses several different names, but sounds the same) to field these calls, with absolutely no clue of the legalities of beneficiaries. #SHAMEFUL

AIG is the best insurance company ever, like no other! They have multiple payment options and their policy writers are amazing and the best ever. With that said, I wish their rates stopped increasing over tie but I still think they are awesome. I recommend it to everyone and plan to stay with them forever!

I absolutely love AIG. They are great, they offer a very good payment system and very flexible in case you need to adjust your policy. Their customer service is awesome as well as their plan. They try to fix any problems super fast. They are very nice, polite and respectful, but nothing too special.

I love it that AIG has been around for a very long time and that I don’t wait too long to get my policy activated. Everyone I talked about it with really loved it. AIG’s reviews were so much better than many other companies. I really feel like I can trust them.

AIG insurance are scammers! I was traveling from Italy to Germany and my baby got sick for a day. Nothing serious enough to take him to the hospital or a doctor. We ended up missing our flight to Sweden and because of this the airline we used have cancelled all our other flights tickets including our flights back home. On my birthday I had to collect money from my family and break a savings account to pay for tickets back home. I had a full coverage flight insurance with AIG and they still refused to pay! I did everything I needed to do, called before and even after my flight got cancelled, I filed a claim and asked for guidance and got the same exact response every single time. AIG is an insurance scam.

I had to pull out my insurance policy. AIG said it would take about two months. After 2 and a half months they told me it has been forgotten, sitting on a desk.. I called more times than I can remember, trying to rush things through. It’s been SIX MONTHS and I still got no money from them… I keep on calling them but their answer is always “we are working on it”!! Eventually I asked to talk to a manager but was denied…….

AIG’s financial advisor kept harassing my mom for four straight days, trying to take out one of their policies which was much more expensive than what she had paid for with the other company that she has been with for many years. I filed a complaint with them and also with FSA. AIG’s advisor turned a little aggressive with his tone of voice and did not appreciate the fact that I cancelled his cold-call pressure sold product.

I used to be insured with Valic until AIG squired them and that’s where my issues with this company began. Their reps are so nasty, they kept “forgetting” my scheduled appointments. I sent them paperwork with the Plan With Ease Part that is a part of CPS. They then asked me for all kinds of different information, that was not mentioned before. I sent them all the other information and paperwork as requested using email and fax. All their email-responses to any question I had contained as little as 3 words and when asking for information, my emails simply got ignored… It’s been about a month now, since my claim and I am already in touch with my lawyer to see why all my money that I have been saving for retirement is being stalled without any information or explenations provided. I filed a complaint with BBB. Being a teacher, I also contacted the teacher’s union to warn other teachers to stay away from AIG!

My mother had two life insurance accounts that I have been trying to claim after her death. It has been 6 months so far with no success. We were never given any explanation as to what the problem is. We only got excuses like "our legal department is reviewing your death claim, still"! Feels like AIG is stalling on their claims, just so they could show a profit for the quarter. Judging by my own experience with them, my sister considered moving there account to another insurance company. Needless to say, I will NEVER put my money with AIG. EVER.

We are all in deep trouble, if AIG is considered to be one of the best insurance companies… Their customer service is really horrible! AIG do great when it comes to taking your money but when they need to resolve situations and issues - it’s a menace! Calling customer service for any need? God help your soul. The minute they pick up the phone you can sense the incompetence and lack of professionalism. I would prefer talking to a robot than to have to listen to their reps while they’re trying to fix my issue which to this day still haven’t been fixed. If I didn’t have enough reasons to live - I got to make sure to keep alive so my family doesn’t have to deal with this company! Looking to buy life insurance? I strongly suggest you look somewhere else. Let me save you the headache that come with these idiots at AIG.

My life insurance policy is supposed to expire when I reach 74. However at the age of 74, my insurance could become unaffordable. AIG sent an agent to my house with life insurance policy. He totally misrepresented the policy where if I used the money as an annuity I would still provide the full investment as a life policy to my wife. And the annuity would be life-long which is important since my wife was younger than me. The agent filled up wrong details in my application and submitted it to AIG. They did not allow my wife on the annuity, so when I die, my wife will have no inuits income from the policy. I was guaranteed to get an annual 6% regardless to the market situation. At the age of 74 and after my other policy lapsed because of my age I learned from my broker that the agent from AIG misrepresented my policy and said he was referring to a different insurance company. I complained to AIG but got no results so I filed another complaint to State Ins. Comm. but they said I would only get my initial investment back, with NOT INTEREST… After long five years that they have collected my money.. I would love to find others like me, to file a class action law suit against them!

I filed a claim and completed the paperwork process for my cousin with special needs who suddenly passed away. She was all alone with no siblings or parents alive, so my mother and I had to take care of all the funeral expenses. This had us taking a second mortgage. After a whole month with no response from AIG I started calling them every single day to inquire about the claim process status. I was then told that this would take additional two or three more business days. Reading the other reviews, I began to see a pattern. I guess that’s how they do business in AIG. They delay and avoid paying claims! When it comes to cashing the checks, they move fast, but when it’s time to pay the claims, it’s a whole different story….

I was lied to by AIG agents on two separate events, which ended up hurting me financially. As for now I seriously doubt that they would pay Seth benefits to my beneficiary, after I’m gone… I do no recommend AIG to anyone. If I didn’t lose all the money I already paid, I would cancel my policy in a heartbeat. Their customer service issues must be taken care of but I seriously doubt this would ever happen. They keep saying that they reputable and have been in business for a century, but really all that means is 100 years of deceiving and cheating their customers. Please use this advise and keep away from AIG.

I have life insurance with AIG and get quarterly bills. I pay it online on the same day I receive the bill - EVERY TIME - and every time about a month or so later, I receive a letter saying that the policy has lapsed because of unreceived payments… Seems like they are trying to trick people into not paying our what they need, when time comes. I do not recommend AIG!

My husband is insured with AIG company and they have the worst customer service by far, to my knowledge and personal experience! They had only sent us a notice of pending termination but would NEVER send the bills. Months ago I complained about it but nothing have changed. Their documents keep saying "the policy will terminate unless payment is recovered by.....(date)." And that was on the very FIRST billing for the premium.. I was never able to make payments through their website, it constantly rejects my logins and password and wouldn’t even let me reset the password.. AIG is a trap! I can’t make payments on the phone either since their system keeps kicking me out. There’s no help coming from any direction and you are left alone to deal with this headache. AIG sucks!

It’s been two years now and I’m still waiting on my refund from them. I have lost both my daughter and my fiancee in December of 2017. My fiancee had life insurance for both of them. I have been chasing AIG around with phone calls and emails.. The last rep I was talking to was on a vacation. Must be really nice… I don’t know what that feels like as I am in too much debt - 2 funerals are not a cheap matter. “You need his medical forms” so I was told. Together with my fiancee’s daughter we have filled up at least 4 release forms to get that done.. After four months - still didn’t get his medical forms. I asked them about my daughter’s claim and they said they have no claim form for her… A year later and they only say it now even tho I sent her death certificate and 3 or 4 reps down the line, they said they do have it! They didn’t - and still don’t want to pay my money. They don’t care at all that you are in serious debt for burying your family members on Christmas. They really don’t care about you whatsoever. All they do is take your money and lie to your face when you need their help. I have Omaha Mutual life insurance and those people are a real blessing and made my life so much easier by helping me borrow against my policy 4 months early so I could pay my bills. If you choose AIg for your insurance company - they will you and your family miserable when you try to process a claim.. Every time I hung up with them I was crying out of frustration because I knew there was no way I could win this fight. I just want this to end. Losing two loved members of your family at Christmas time is bad enough. Constantly having to deal with these greedy and careless people just made everything so much worse for me.. I just want to finish with my card payments so I don’t lose everything I own… DO NOT GO WITH AIG!

I bought life insurance policy with AIG. The entire initial process and set-up were pretty easy. But it all went down the drain from that point. I would NEVER receive a message with the auto-pay dates and never got a link to access eService online.. Before noticing, a month has passed and still they didn’t contact me. I researched online and came across eService to make payments on my own. A few more months went by and suddenly I received a message saying my policy was about to lapse… WHAT?! Turns out my payments did not go through, but all my checks were cleared…. I contacted AIG over the phone, and after hitting a brick wall with the first rep, I demanded to speak to a supervisor. I explained the situation to the supervisor and she sounded worried. She then promised to review the payments proof from the bank and call me back. She never did. Bitter and upset, I was forced to call AIG once again… I can’t understand how a company of such size has such a terrible system where payments simply are not being applied… Eventually things got sorted out andall my previous payments were fixed. A few months down the road, I had to deal with the entire same exact painful situation, all over again.. I had to chase AIG over the phone for 3 days while they unknowingly deducted 4 payments from my account, without my consent!! Their customer service said they have no idea how this could have happened. I demanded refund and if by tomorrow this doesn’t get fixed I will file a complain to BBB.

I was going to Mexico and bought travel insurance with AIG. Unexpectedly, I had to make changes in my flight arrangement so I filed a claim. AIG refused to refund me and denied my claim, saying that my reasoning for the claim was not, in fact, covered… What is the point of getting travel insurance if you end up losing the money anyways?? I ended up filing a claim to BBB and California Depatment of Insurance…

I recently got travel insurance with AIG. My place of work then had to make schedule changes and AIG denied my claim, saying they can’t cover the claim unless I was involved in an accident, death or other idiotic excuses. The whole idea behind travel insurance is to be able to get covered for unexpected situations in your traveling plans. Insurance customers must understand and know exactly what they are covered for, instead AIG makes you read unclear and tiring pdf files… People don’t always have the time to sit and read all these documents while booking a flight and insurance companies like AIG take advantage of this kind of situations. What is the point of purchasing a travel insurance if you can’t even use it in time of need and have a company like AIG denying your claims and not paying?! Be careful who you’re buying insurance with!!

AIG is a fraud beyond all reason and I would never ever go back to them. They kept sending me termination messages, even tho I kept paying the monthly premiums. In the last 3 months I’ve been talking on the phone with AIG multiple times, every single week, trying to fix my problem. It takes at least 10 minutes to get a customer service rep to talk to you. When you finally reach one, they would just tell you it takes their system 24-48 hours to update, that they can’t communicate with other departments in the office, or get any information and so on… It takes forever and a half to locate your supervisor and if you do reach them (which doesn’t happen too much) they give you the same lame excuses with them having to rely on their computer system. There is no communication with other departments’ management, other than emails. But of course, customers can’t talk to them at all. This is my experience with AIG and Valic (the company acquired by AIG) in the past 20 years… AIG is useless and their reps show lack of care and attention.. Even the University of Alabama has dropped them and moved on to another provider.

I had travel insurance with AIG and had to go through an operation on my trip. After I sent them all the medical documents and paperwork, without any pre-existing condition, these people cheated me! After I had to cancel my non-refundable flight, these fraudsters said they won’t help cover it. Now I’m searching for lawyers to fight them back!

MY agent has connected me to AIG for life insurance policy. Realizing we can’t meet with the monthly premium no more, they said my agent had to cancel the policy and that I could not do anything about it. At first I Wanted to switch to a cheaper monthly payment but they said I would have to wait an ENTIRE YEAR before I could switch… What kind of business practices is this??? Since they wanted nothing to do with my money, I chose to cancel my policy permanently and find another insurance company. I was with AIG for one month only and expected to get a refund for the first and only monthly payment. Of course, that never happened. I am extremely disappointed with AIG and how they just stole my money.. I do not recommend this company to anyone!

AIG just delay and ignore your claims and hold on to your money, for as long as they possibly can. I had a horrible experience having to deal with the death of a family member, and then AIG denied my Pay on Death policy, saying they have lost it, or never got it or need more paperwork and documents that they’ve never mentioned before… Their latest trick was telling me that the files I sent care not visible on their system… And I sent HARD COPY notarised original documents! What are they even talking about!!! I am sure they would not appreciate this kind of treatment dealing with death of their family members… Unethical, and illegal activity.. Beware!!

AIG do not care about peoples emotions when they lose a loved-one. On March 6 2019 my brother who had an insurance policy and had my mother as a beneficiary - passed. My mother passed 5 years prior to his death. I am the only member left in my family, after my father passed on January 2019. I have been on a battle agains AIG after discovering all the insurance policies that my mother has purchased. AIG reps are so irresponsible, nasty and the least friendly people I have ever had to deal with. If you have policies with AIG -Beware! Plus, they are not part of BBB, which should tell you everything you need to know about this company.

I purchased together with my husband an Old Life Term insurance policy, about two decades ago. At some point they were bought out by AIG. Our policy was ending in December 2019 so on November we called to let them know we don’t wish to renew the policy.The person we spoke with stated he terminated the policy and stopped the automatic monthly payment. He also told us to ignore any correspondence from AIG.

Mid December of 2019 I received a letter in the mail asking for a copy of my sister in law’s death certificate. I had no idea about this policy, but they have somehow found me. I called them back the next day and was told I can’t receive any information about the policy before sending a copy of the death certificate. After sending it I called again. This time they said they cannot provide me with any information and they would send a death claim form. Today - a month and half later - I called again and once again were told that they can’t figure out if I am the beneficiary or not, and if I didn’t get the claim form it probably means I am not it.

I experienced an injury while working a couple of months ago. I filed a claim using my accident policy, and it’s still being processed! AIG customer service are so rude, condescending and unprofessional and they treat you like garbage. They adjusters NEVER return phone calls… I hurt my wrist in an accident and had to undergo a surgery. A few weeks ago I received a letter saying that my claim did not process because my documents did not state that my injury was a fractured bone. AIG policy is misleading.. Obviously an accident involving an injury took place. I missed 3 months worth of work. I do NOT recommend anyone to buy insurance with AIG. They do not care about their customers. These people are only after your money.

I have had AIG Private Client Group Auto Insurance for over a year now. I had my BMW insured with them, I have filed 2 claims in the past year and they have been more than helpful in not just the claim part but personally as well by whatever was going on around my personal life adjusted accordingly. They are the most flexible when it comes to car rental, regardless of whatever your case is whether someone else hit you and you are going to file through the other's insurance, I got a rental through them in minutes and they handled my case as professionally and the best viable way possible. Very happy customer! Felt like they just want to give money away, "here just take it we got a lot." :)

I have had a life insurance policy for my husband since February, 1988 and just received a letter saying that I wasn't paying the correct amount of premium. I paid the exact same amount that appears on billing all along. Their customer service said it is my responsibility to pay the right amount. Unbelievable.... I pay the same amount that is on billing. Now they claim that the policy will be cancelled if I don't pay them $1800 immediately. My spouse is going to turn 82 soon and we have fixed income so I have nowhere to bring this amount of money from. Managers are as worse than their customer service team. I was taught to depend on life insurance companies to be there when you need them but this is absolutely disgraceful. There goes our over $30,000 away. Shameless business practice that must be stopped.
