The equipment you own as a personal trainer, fitness instructor, or gym owner is valuable and requires security because your business can't continue to run without them.
Gym equipment insurance pertains to several policies that are specifically designed to cover workout equipment of fitness instructors and gym facilities. You can use this to compensate the third party who sustained injuries after using workout equipment. This will also cover repair or replacement expenses.
Insurance companies include gym equipment policies in crossfit insurance programs and other related insurance products. This guide will talk about how each type works, the cost of premiums, and the best companies.
The different types of gym equipment insurance policies are general liability, inland marine, tools and equipment, commercial property, product liability, and marine cargo insurance. The sections below discuss how each works.

You might only think of purchasing commercial property insurance to insure the building of your gym or fitness facility. Well, you might want to reconsider.
The majority of insurance companies nowadays include contents or inventory coverage in their commercial property insurance.
This contents or inventory coverage allows commercial property insurance to cover the value of workout equipment, so long as they got damaged or destroyed while on the premises of your gym or fitness facility.
The contents coverage of commercial property insurance will reimburse the value of gym equipment that gets destroyed or damaged because of fire, theft, vandalism, and other covered perils.

You can bundle your general liability and commercial property insurance into a business owner’s policy.
A business owner’s policy is an insurance product that you can use to cover liabilities arising from injuries or property damage caused by your gym equipment. It will also cover the value of gym equipment and your gym facility’s building.
The best thing about a business owner’s policy is that it can be added with other types of gym equipment insurance policies such as inland marine or marine cargo insurance.
Inland marine insurance protects portable gym equipment during transit.
This is useful if you’re about to send a large batch of gym equipment to a buyer through the local shipping company. It’s also practical to have this insurance if you’re a personal trainer who owns a lot of portable gym equipment.
Inland marine insurance will cover costs if fire or loss happens due to fire, theft, vandalism, negligence, lightning, mysterious disappearance, and vehicular accidents while the gym equipment is being transported through a land vehicle.
You can purchase inland marine insurance as a stand-alone policy or add-on to commercial property and general liability insurance.
Product liability insurance can be used as coverage for gym equipment that you’re selling as an instructor, gym facility, or gym supplies center.
Buyers can run after you if the gym equipment they’ve bought caused injuries due to defects or incorrect labeling. The job of product liability insurance is to cover this exposure. With this insurance, you can cover the costs for:
Medical treatments
Property damage reimbursements
Legal defense
Court judgments
Product recall
Insurance companies offer $1 million-$2 million product liability insurance. You will find this automatically included in the general liability policy for your gym equipment.
Gym equipment insurance might not be the only insurance you need as a business or professional in the fitness industry. That said, consider investing in these other insurance policies.
Professional indemnity insurance for gyms and fitness facilities is a policy that protects the business if a customer suffers an injury or loss as a result of the negligence, misconduct, recklessness, mistakes, or errors of the gym or fitness facility staff.
This coverage can help protect your business from costly lawsuits and the financial implications of being mentioned in a lawsuit.
Also known as errors and omissions (E&O) insurance, professional indemnity coverage caters to costs, such as legal fees, compensation for lost wages or other damages, and any settlements or judgments.
Workers compensation insurance for gyms and fitness equipment protects professional gym and workout facilities from losses if employees are injured or become ill due to their job. This type of insurance is mandatory for employers who have employees. It typically covers medical expenses, lost wages, and compensation for disability or death.
Cyber liability insurance protects gym and fitness businesses against financial losses and liability arising from data breaches and cyber-attacks.
As many gyms invest in mobile apps that require consumers to sign-up and provide sensitive information, you're exposed to the risk of data breaches and cyberattacks.
Cyber liability insurance for gyms typically covers a wide range of costs that can be incurred as a result of data breach. These can include:
Legal and regulatory costs-This can include the cost of defending against lawsuits and regulatory investigations, as well as fines and penalties that may result from a data breach
Notification and credit monitoring costs–You must notify your clients whenever there's a breach of the confidential information you have about them. Notifying them comes with its costs as well as the expenses of providing credit monitoring services to those customers
Business interruption costs-This can include the cost of lost business income due to a cyber-attack or data breach
Data recovery costs–These are costs you incur for restoring or recovering data that has been lost or stolen in a cyber-attack
Public relations costs–Falling victim to a cyberattack dents your gym's reputation. Recovering from such a setback may require hiring a public relations (PR) firm to mitigate reputational damage resulting from a data breach. As usual, you'll need to pay for the service
Cyber extortion costs–Extortion costs can include the money you pay after a hacker requires a ransom so they can send you the code to recover your data

This place is an absolute joke of a company and should be ashamed of the way they conduct business. I was hurt on the job at the end of July and it took them just shy of 7 weeks to issue out a paycheck to me. Yes the amount was back dated but still. Not many have the luxury of not receiving a paycheck for almost 2 months. To top it all off, the original adjuster marked me down for the wrong state which caused a problem from the get go, I've had 3 different adjusters now since each one can't seem to figure out the simplicity of my claim. All my paperwork which includes, my job, house, and drs visits all are from the same state and city but yet some how I have been filed under a completely different state 1500 miles away. They do not answer your phone calls or emails no matter how many you leave. I've had to escalate my frustrations to the supervisors of each of these individuals in order to even get some kind of response. I've had more communication and information given to me about my claim from the customer service representatives then the actual adjusters.......... please tell me how that works?! A serious overhaul needs to happen here in order to serve your clients the way they deserve to be taken care of. 10/10 do not recommend this company to a single soul on earth
I have never had the displeasure of working with a more incompetent and disrespectful person in my life. I’m an injured worker and the adjuster that was assigned to my case was named Carrie Furgeson. In the past 6 weeks that I’ve been injured and out of work I have only been able to get ahold of her twice, not for lack of trying. I have left countless voicemails, countless emails, and she ignores them all. When I am finally able to get ahold of her I’m greeted with terrible customer service. She is rude, she talks over me and I’m hardly able to get a word in edgewise. She spelled my name wrong on my documents even after I spelled it for her properly countless times, this caused a whole new issue with my bank. I have bill collectors from the hospital calling me demanding payment and Carrie Furgeson won’t do a single thing to help, or to get them paid. All of my documentation is in Colorado, my job is in Colorado, my address is in Colorado, all my Dr offices and appointments have been in Colorado and Carrie still managed to hold my claim because she wasn’t sure what state she needed to file it under. It’s been 6 weeks since my Injury and my company still hasn’t received the wage paperwork to fill out so they can get me my correct wages. When she’s not ignoring me she’s answering my questions with “I don’t know” well I don’t know how she got this job, because apparently she doesn’t know anything about it. She is a disgusting morose individual inside and out and I genuinely wish her the worst in all of her future endeavors. I highly recommend you don’t use this company. Please if you are a business owner and your looking into this company please don’t use them. I’m sure they have the cheapest payment and that’s why companies use them in the first place, but you will be doing your employees a grave disservice by forcing them to venture into this absolute dumpster fire of a company. I would rate 0/5 if possible but 1 was the lowest I was allowed.
