Aetna is the worst insurance company I have ever had. Don’t choose Aetna if you have any other options! They want to change my chemo therapy to just save money and risk my life.

Aetna are terrible. I was prescribed an FDA approved drug that is generic and cheap. Aetna refused to cover, so I paid $25 for three months worth; it works for BPH. I filed an appeal with Aetna and the doctor and urologist got involved also-and I won the appeal. This did not matter to Aetna, the next prescription was refused. I paid myself. What would they cover if it were for Alzheimer’s or Cancer. Pointless paying for insurance only to find at point of use that they can decide not to pay anything regardless of FDA and doctors.

My doctor referred me to perform MRI but also advised that Aetna will not pay for it unless I get an X-ray ahead of it. Aetna didn't cover it claiming that the X-ray did not show any problem. The thing is, it is impossible to see my health issue on an X-ray. So if a doctor's reference + X-ray is not enough, why would you even have health insurance with these guys? waste of money

Worst company to do business with. Zero communication level. Their customer service is made of off-shore representatives that barely know english. The answer to every question I had was 30 business days. Horrible. Been waiting for over 12 months for some things. Providing contradicting information. ZERO STARS!

Got in touch with Aetna to reaffirm a surgery only to get notified by 5 different representatives that I am no longer covered by them. Spent hours on the call to get this sorted. Save your time and money.

Joined Aetna Medicare in October 2019. Needed at least 4 doctors. Mainly oncology. Headed to their website and collected 10 doctors from there. After contacting all 10, none were part of Aetna Medicare. Aetna's final word was that their database must be updated with the current doctors that are taking part in their program. It is March now, there's this coronavirus going on... so irresponsible of a health insurance company! Very disappointed.

Haven't got direct replies. I am also with Humana and never experienced such issues. No one identified my member ID during the claims process including flu shots and blood tests. When I called their customer service I haven't got any direct response.

I chose Aetna health insurance because it covered all doctors and all RX. Three months after they emphasised that they won't cover one of the brand name drugs. Overall Rx coverage is a lot better than last year's Express Scripts that was horrible.
