A box truck has an enclosed cargo space that protects your goods from damage or theft. Whether you operate long distance or short distance, you can run into a risk of unexpected accidents. That is why you need California box truck insurance. This insurance will cover bodily injury, property damage, and medical expenses.
The California box truck insurance requirements are similar to commercial auto insurance. A box truck should have minimum liability insurance coverage to operate legally on the state's roads. The requirements include:
$15,000 bodily injury for each person
$30,000 bodily injury in each accident
$5,000 property damage in each accident

Some insurance companies may impose exclusions in their insurance policy. For instance, some policies may exclude compensation for criminal activities or other intentional acts. Discussing the possible exclusions and limitations with an insurer would be best.
No, businesses in California are not bound by law to have general liability insurance coverage. But to protect your company against devastating costs that may occur due to a liability claim, you need to have a valid insurance cover.

You can make omissions and errors if you are in the truck business. For instance, overlooking important information may lead to damage. You will require superior expertise and knowledge if your business offers freight management or transportation services. In case of any errors or negligence, customers can sue you. Some of the instances, when professional liability insurance comes in handy, include:
Errors or negligence–Your business can unintentionally create the wrong schedule as cause delays when offering box truck services. The coverage will cover legal fees and settlements
Breach of contract–Your business may breach a contract with a customer, resulting in damages and financial losses. The liability insurance will provide coverage for associated legal fees and settlements
Small California box truck businesses that provide essential freight management services may be able to obtain coverage limits of $100,000 to $500,000
Larger California box truck businesses that provide more complex transportation logistics services may enjoy coverage limits of $1 million or more
California box truck businesses that work with high-value or hazardous cargo may enjoy even higher coverage limits, potentially ranging from $5 million to $10 million or more
General liability insurance covers bodily injury or property damage to third parties. In comparison, professional liability insurance covers financial losses due to errors or omissions.

Business owner’s policy offers comprehensive coverage for small and large businesses. If you are looking to cover a number of risks at an affordable rate, this the best coverage for you. This policy is a combination of different coverages such as:
General liability insurance
Commercial property insurance
Cyber liability insurance–This insurance will cushion your business in the event unauthorized third parties access your sensitive business data
Equipment breakdown insurance–In case your equipment breaks down, this insurance will compensate you for all the losses suffered
Commercial auto insurance covers your business vehicles. It protects your commercial vehicles from things such as damages, theft, or damage. Your box truck must carry the minimum amount of commercial property insurance as mandated by law.
Your insurance company will provide a limit of $1,000,000-$5,000,000. But the actual limit will depend on the policy terms and needs of your business
.
Bodily injury liability–covers for injuries that your vehicle may cause to third parties
Property damage–If your vehicle damages people's property, the insurance will cover all the costs
Comprehensive insurance–covers damages on your box truck due to theft, fire, or any other covered risk
Combined single limit–This liability insurance combines bodily injury and property damage as a single entity
Medical payments–Settles all medical costs for the passengers in the vehicle
Personal injury protection–This will cover all medical expenses without considering who is at fault. It will also cover lost wages
Collision insurance–Will cover the damages on your box truck after an accident.
Uninsured motorist coverage–Will settle all damages or injuries to all passengers or drivers after you are hit by an uninsured driver or with insufficient insurance
Non-trucking liability insurance will cover property damage or bodily injury your box truck may cause after an accident. It is tailored for accidents when you use the truck outside work. This insurance is valuable if you use your commercial vehicle for personal reasons. Incidences you can use the insurance cover:
It will cover damages from an accident when running errands or driving home after work
When an accident occurs when you are test-driving a commercial vehicle
However, the non-trucking liability insurance will not cover damages to your cargo or the box truck. For that, you must invest separately in cargo or physical damage cover.
No, non-trucking liability insurance is not compulsory in California. However, your business needs this coverage to protect itself from unexpected losses.
$1 million per occurrence is the most common coverage limit for non-trucking liability insurance. It provides up to $1 million in liability protection per accident for bodily injury and property damage caused by the insured driver while using their box truck for non-business purposes.
$500,000 per occurrence is another standard coverage limit for non-trucking liability insurance.
Some insurance providers may offer different coverage limit options for non-trucking liability insurance, such as $750,000 or $2 million per occurrence. Choosing a coverage limit that provides adequate protection for your business and assets is essential.
When you are in the business of transporting cargo, unexpected things can happen. The goods that you are transporting may get lost or be damaged. The insurance coverage will reimburse for the value of the goods if a covered event occurs when you are transporting goods. Ideally, this insurance will cover incidences such as:
Cargo theft
Cargo damage due to intentional mischief
Cargo damage due to upset
Cargo damage due to lightning or winds
When selecting cargo insurance, these are the two options you can consider:
All-risk coverage–This type of coverage is more comprehensive and covers all damages and physical losses caused by external factors. It offers a more broad coverage
Named perils coverage–The named perils coverage is restrictive. It only covers the listed perils or risks. Some of the common perils include collision, fire, or theft
Cargo insurance is not mandatory. But it would be best if you were vigilant to safeguard your business from financial losses in case the goods are lost or damaged while transported.
This insurance cover may have some limitations. For instance, some insurance providers may specify the type of goods they insure. It would be best if you discussed with them to find a customized policy for your needs.
When conducting business, your employees can get injured or become ill due to exposure to harmful toxins in the business environment. If employees decide to sue your company, you will suffer severe financial consequences. Worker's compensation insurance is essential and will protect your company from financial losses. This insurance will cover lost wages and medical expenses.
Slip and fall accidents–Employees can slip when packing or carrying cargo on your premises. The insurance will help cover all the medical costs and lost wages.
Occupational illnesses–Your employees can be exposed to hazardous materials when packing and unpacking goods. They may develop various medical conditions. The insurance will compensate any resulting expenses
Yes, any business with more than one employee should have this policy. It helps cover medical costs and lost wages for your employees if they are injured while on the job.

Use anyone except Employers. Period. They are non-transparent and shameful. After I complained long enough to warrant a call from a supervisor, the supervisor called back from a PRIVATE NUMBER (no caller ID), left a message that they are not reversing their decision (without any communication with me), and failed to leave a phone number for me to call back. She was hiding! They also fact find via email and phone calls, which is terrific for speed and communication. However, after setting a precedence of email or phone calls, they send time sensitive information via email, without any heads up... they are hoping you miss it and forfeit via expiration. Evil policies. Go elsewhere.
This place is an absolute joke of a company and should be ashamed of the way they conduct business. I was hurt on the job at the end of July and it took them just shy of 7 weeks to issue out a paycheck to me. Yes the amount was back dated but still. Not many have the luxury of not receiving a paycheck for almost 2 months. To top it all off, the original adjuster marked me down for the wrong state which caused a problem from the get go, I've had 3 different adjusters now since each one can't seem to figure out the simplicity of my claim. All my paperwork which includes, my job, house, and drs visits all are from the same state and city but yet some how I have been filed under a completely different state 1500 miles away. They do not answer your phone calls or emails no matter how many you leave. I've had to escalate my frustrations to the supervisors of each of these individuals in order to even get some kind of response. I've had more communication and information given to me about my claim from the customer service representatives then the actual adjusters.......... please tell me how that works?! A serious overhaul needs to happen here in order to serve your clients the way they deserve to be taken care of. 10/10 do not recommend this company to a single soul on earth
I have never had the displeasure of working with a more incompetent and disrespectful person in my life. I’m an injured worker and the adjuster that was assigned to my case was named Carrie Furgeson. In the past 6 weeks that I’ve been injured and out of work I have only been able to get ahold of her twice, not for lack of trying. I have left countless voicemails, countless emails, and she ignores them all. When I am finally able to get ahold of her I’m greeted with terrible customer service. She is rude, she talks over me and I’m hardly able to get a word in edgewise. She spelled my name wrong on my documents even after I spelled it for her properly countless times, this caused a whole new issue with my bank. I have bill collectors from the hospital calling me demanding payment and Carrie Furgeson won’t do a single thing to help, or to get them paid. All of my documentation is in Colorado, my job is in Colorado, my address is in Colorado, all my Dr offices and appointments have been in Colorado and Carrie still managed to hold my claim because she wasn’t sure what state she needed to file it under. It’s been 6 weeks since my Injury and my company still hasn’t received the wage paperwork to fill out so they can get me my correct wages. When she’s not ignoring me she’s answering my questions with “I don’t know” well I don’t know how she got this job, because apparently she doesn’t know anything about it. She is a disgusting morose individual inside and out and I genuinely wish her the worst in all of her future endeavors. I highly recommend you don’t use this company. Please if you are a business owner and your looking into this company please don’t use them. I’m sure they have the cheapest payment and that’s why companies use them in the first place, but you will be doing your employees a grave disservice by forcing them to venture into this absolute dumpster fire of a company. I would rate 0/5 if possible but 1 was the lowest I was allowed.
